The locations for the shelters are on the side of Albion Park, in Court Lane and in Rankin Street adjacent to the IGA Supermarket.
The new infrastructure was made possible after council was successful in obtaining $13,419 in funds under the 2013/2014 Country Passenger Transport Infrastructure Grants Scheme (CPTIGS).
Council were required to match this CPTIGS figure and will do so with funds allocated in the 2014/2015 budget.
The shelters will be custom designed for Forbes Shire by local manufacturers and due to the narrowness of the paths at both sites, will be built to a specific, cantilever style structure.
The works are scheduled to commence at the beginning of May and should take five weeks to build and install.
At the council meeting on Thursday, councillors also resolved to contact the operator of NSW Trainlink to inquire about the building of a shelter for their passengers at the railway station.
