“I think we’re going to go well,” Merritt said.
“We’ve got a bit of confidence after playing Westside and got some of the niggling injuries out of the way, so we’ve had a chance to rest up.”
The Magpies had the bye last weekend but started the season off with a bang the previous week in their round one clash against Dubbo Westside with a 50-28 victory.
Merritt hopes that win will set them up in good stead against CYMS, who he said are certainly the team to beat.
“They’re definitely the benchmark again this year,” he said.
“They’ve given both teams they’ve played so far a bit of a touch-up but our new-look side is really going to match it with them.”
Merritt said he plans to make the most of the team’s strong forwards tomorrow night.
“We’ve got the best forward attack in the group I think, so we’ll ramp it up in the middle and take it on in the forwards,” he said.
Under 18s kick off at 6pm at Apex Oval Dubbo on Friday night, followed by reserves and then first grade at around 8.30pm.
