Museum chairman Ray Agustin welcomed Andrew Gee, Member for Orange, and his wife Tina and the 110 attendees to the opening event.
He called upon Wilf Norris (the most photographed man in Eugowra) who talked about his life working with his loved Australian draught horses and the places they had taken him and the people he had met as a result of working with these horses. Wilf has a fine display of photos relating to these events and trophies he has one displayed in a section of the extensions.
Viv McMillan was next to speak, with his subject being the well known ‘Braveheart’ wagon and the reaper that is on display with the wagon in another section of the extension.
Margot Jolly, who is the project officer for the Museums Sustainable Collection project, talked about her involvement with the extension project and how it gave her great satisfaction to see it all come to fruition.
She thanked the committee members for working with her to have many of the displays and signs ready for the opening.
There is of course many more to come - it is a work in progress.
In his speech Mr Gee praised the committee for seeing stage two through to completion and emphasised how important it is for a community to preserve its history and culture.
With Ray Agustin they cut the ribbon for Mr Gee to declare the extension officially open.
To end the official proceedings, committee member Bob Roach, came forward to say that everyone owed so much to Ray for all the hard work he has committed to stage two, and how he was the driving force to see the project through to completion. All members of the committee wholeheartedly agreed.
Following the official proceedings everyone enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea, a chat and a good look through the museum.
