Just one week after the Spirit of Anzac exhibition opened, they will be hosting the official opening of the Streets of Forbes exhibition at the Platypus Gallery on Friday, May 1 at 7pm.
The exhibition will coincide with Heritage Week 2015 and will run from Saturday, May 2 until the end of May.
An acquisition prize of $1000 will be on offer for the winning artwork, which will be acquired by Forbes Shire Council.
Winners of each category will also receive $300 and $100 will be awarded for second place.
The three categories are painting, drawing and photography.
The theme, ‘Streets of Forbes’, may relate to any streetscape of Forbes but it must contain multiple buildings and properties.
“We can expect a wide variety of paintings, drawings and photos of Forbes,” Forbes Art Society president Keith Mullette said.
“It will certainly be colourful and interesting.”
The awards for the winning artworks will be presented at the annual Heritage Week Presentation Evening on Monday, May 4 at Forbes Town Hall.
The director of the soon-to-be-released ‘The Legend of Ben Hall’ feature film, Matthew Holmes, will be the guest speaker of the evening.
Entries in the exhibition must be delivered to the Platypus Gallery by the end of today.
Entry to the official opening tomorrow night is $5 and people are asked to RSVP to Klara on 0488 514 848 or email forbesarts@gmail.com.
