The open day will be held from 11am to 4pm with a gold coin donation for entry.
Everyone is invited to go along and visit the Museum for its open day, which is the perfect chance to check out the Forbes and District Historical Society’s Ben Hall display.
The exhibition, Ben Hall - The Myths Behind the Legend, is relatively new to the Museum and won a Forbes Medal in 2010, just after it was first opened.
The exhibition explores the legend of Ben Hall through music, ideas, opinions and images.
It features informative panels about the bushranger’s days, as well as fascinating artefacts such as a coin found on Ben Hall after he was shot by police and part of a wooden bench he once sat on and carved his name into.
The display also includes a video about Ben Hall produced by local historians Rob Willis and Kerry Neaylon.
“There’s quite a lot of stuff there,” Forbes and District Historical Society president Bruce Adams said.
Mr Adams expects a great deal of people to come through the Museum’s doors over Heritage Week, which falls on the 150th anniversary of Ben Hall’s death.
What better way to commemorate the occasion than by paying a visit to the Forbes Historical Museum and finding out all about the legend of Ben Hall.
