It will be an interesting match for Platypi coach Heamani Lavaka when he comes up against his former team the Parkes Boars today, but there’s no question where his allegiance lies.

“I wish them the best, but I want Forbes to win, I want to beat them,” he said.
Lavaka spent six years with the Boars, taking them to the top of the
ladder in 2011 and to third place in 2012.
He said his mission is now to give Forbes the same boost.
“I helped build the Parkes club and now I’ve got a job to get Forbes to another level, that’s my main focus at the moment,” he said.
While Lavaka admits the rivalry will feel different today against Parkes, he is not concerned with what he knows about his former teammates, only with what Forbes can do.
“I’m just worried about what we can do, not what they can do,” he said.
“Tomorrow [today] is the start of our season.”
Currently the Boars are sitting just above the Platypi in the Blowes Clothing Cup ladder, but Lavaka is confident that if his team can lift their morale, it will be a good match for the Platypi.
The match at Northparkes Oval is also a charity day for CanAssist and Lavaka said he hopes his team and the cause will be supported.
“We hope to get a few people over there to support the boys and because it’s a charity day, it’s a good cause to help,” he said.
The rugby union will kick off at 12.15pm.
