The disappointment started early at Northparkes Oval following Forbes’ 35-0 defeat in the colts and later a 26-10 loss in the reserves.
The Boars capped off their trifecta in the first grade, taking down the Platypi 29-17.
In the first grade match, it was the home side that put the first points on the board.
After a Parkes penalty goal sailed wide in the first four minutes of the game, the Boars didn’t waste any more time, with Tohi Tangi Nusipepa crossing the line first.
Parkes added the extras for 7-0 before Forbes were penalised for off-side from the kick-off, allowing the Boars to add another three points with a successful penalty goal.
The Boars continued their winning streak and were rewarded after some good pick and drive play with a second try by Ben Ryan.
Following another successful conversion, Parkes led 17-0 after 15 minutes.
Soon after Forbes found their footing, starting a strong offensive and scoring after eight phases of play.
The conversion was missed, bringing the score to 17-5.
Parkes were handed some more points after a scrum infringement and another penalty goal, making the score 23-5 at half time.
The second half was a closely fought affair with neither side willing to give an inch.
After five minutes the Boars extended their lead to 26-5 after a Forbes high tackle resulted in another penalty goal.
With 28 minutes to go, captain-coach Heamani Lavaka rolled across the Boars defence to score right in the corner.
After Lavaka’s try, Forbes were penalised for a second time for being offside, which brought another three points to Parkes, making the score 29-10.
With just 30 seconds remaining, the Platypi pushed across the line to put the ball down near the posts.
The conversion was good but it was all too late as the Boars took the match 29-17.
After the game, the teams retired to the Royal Hotel to continue the fundraising for Can Assist with a jumper auction, auction of a dinner at Parliament House and four tickets to a Brumbies match.
Both Forbes and Parkes players and supporters got into the spirit of the fundraising evening, with Can Assist clearly the winner of the day.
Next week Forbes Platypi will take on Dubbo Kangaroos in a home match at Grinsted Oval.
