The 2006 Disney movie musical is a fun-loving story about two high school students from different worlds who are brought together by their love of music.
Both try out for lead roles in their school’s musical, much to the displeasure of their fellow classmates.
The show features high energy dancing, a whole lot of singing and plenty of fun characters.
High School Musical will be brought to life on the Parkes M and D stage from October 10 to October 25, with auditions to be held on Friday, June 12 from 6pm and Saturday, June 13 from 12pm.
Everyone aged over 13 is welcome to go along and audition for a role.
Director, Greg Ballantyne, said he is looking for people willing to have a good time and give it their all.
“We are looking for people from 13 years and up, who have lots of energy, want to dance and who don’t take themselves too seriously,” he said.
“We will be casting the best person for the role no matter if they are 14 or 40, so everyone has an equal chance of scoring a lead role.”
Those wanting to audition will be required to sing, dance and read a few lines for a speaking role.
All audition information, including backing tracks, dance instructions and lines, is available on the Parkes M and D website www.parkesmandd.com.au or on the High School Musical - Parkes Little Theatre Facebook page.
Ballantyne said this show could be the start of something new for those who have never been involved before.
“If you’ve never done a show before, this would be a great way to start,” he said.
“It’s a big, fun show that most people have seen over the years.”
If you would like to audition but can’t make it during the allocated times, please call or text Greg on 0434 986 624 to arrange an alternate time before the auditions.
