The inaugural Dancing with the Stars of Forbes is an event not to be missed, so save the date for Saturday, November 7.
Ten couples, 20 stars, will be taken out of their comfort zones and will come together in a dancing spectacular at Forbes Services Memorial Club to raise money for Forbes CanAssist.
Organisers of the event, Terese Gunn and Cassandra Tyack, along with a fantastic sub-committee, are aiming to raise $15,000.
“Every cent that we can get will go to CanAssist, so everything raised goes to the Forbes community,” co-organiser Terese Gunn said.
“There aren’t many families in Forbes that don’t know someone who hasn’t called on CanAssist for help at some point.”
Dancing with the Stars of Forbes will run in a similar fashion to the popular Channel 7 reality TV program of the same name, with each couple given a different style dance to perform on the night.
Some of the dances that our Forbes celebrities will be performing include the tango, jazz, hip hop and ballet, just to name a few.
Couples will then be critiqued and scored by a panel of judges and will be interviewed by a hostess in the “green room” - the stage of the services club auditorium. Rowan Woods will be the MC for the night.
The winning couple will receive a coveted disco ball trophy but there will also be a people’s choice award with the winners decided based on which couple can collect as much money as they can in five minutes.
All money collected in the buckets by the couples will go directly to CanAssist.
There will also be an auction on the night.
Organisers are calling out for local businesses to sponsor each dancer for a minimum of $100, which would equal at least $2000 pure profit for CanAssist.
All sponsors will receive great exposure throughout the lead-up to the event and they will also have their name and logo on their dancer’s back.
The identity of the 20 stars remains a mystery for now, however organisers may release hints as the event gets closer, so stay tuned. Can you guess who they are?
