Dance workshops, weapons displays and music were shared across the town’s schools as Forbes marked NAIDOC Week 2015.
Anita Morrison from Forbes Shire Council said it was unfortunate that the cold, wet weather forced organisers to rearrange the day, but everyone was still pleased with the way the day turned out.
“From the feedback I have received, all the schools were more than happy,” she said.
Forbes Public and Forbes North students were treated to dance workshops and weapons displays.
St Laurence’s students hosted Ralph Naden who ran dance workshops, teaching students about the significance of the dance moves.
Pre-schoolers and high schoolers enjoyed indigenous music.
“We had two Aboriginal bands from Orange, they’re a family group,” Mrs Morrison said.
“Mum and dad performed at Town Hall for all the early childhood centres. They performed a lot of nursery rhymes in Wiradjuri language.
“Their four children performed at Forbes High School and Red Bend brought a bus of students in for that performance.”
