He is a great advocate for the local Aboriginal community and promotes Aboriginal history and culture at every opportunity. He supports closing the gap initiatives and strives for an inclusive and harmonious community for all people.
Warren Baxter: Warren is an upstanding young Aboriginal leader in the Forbes community.
Warren has excelled on the Rugby League field this year and was named the Junior Club Captain this year. Warren has also been selected in the National Under 16 Indigenous team which will tour France later in the year.
Warren volunteers to assist with NAIDOC celebrations each year by playing the didgeridoo or performing traditional Aboriginal dances. He has been an inspiration to both the indigenous and non indigenous community and promotes his culture with great pride.
Tai Baxter: Tai has shown great improvement in his attitude and commitment to both school and home life in the past twelve months. He volunteers his time to perform Aboriginal dancing for NAIDOC celebrations and Aboriginal funerals and events.
Tai is also a talented footballer and volunteers at the local rugby league competition. Tai has represented Forbes High School for rugby league and was selected in the Combined High School Team where he earned the title of Man of the Match.
Tai was also selected in the Under 16 Indigenous Rugby League team. Tai takes pride in his culture and is only too willing to share this with non Aboriginal people.
Paige Thomas: Paige is an exemplary student at Forbes High School and has demonstrated outstanding skills in public speaking.
She was instrumental in helping Forbes High School take out the NSW DEC NAIDOC Debating Challenge in 2014. Paige is a vital member of the 2015 NAIDOC debating team which has had great success already this year.
She was calm and delivered her arguments in a clear, fluent and authoritative way. The team will compete at the Western Region competition shortly for the opportunity to compete at the State titles again this year.
Paige is a remarkable student with a long and prosperous future and has strong ties with her Aboriginal heritage.
