Forbes mayor Phyllis Miller has welcomed the State Government’s confirmation that motor registry services will continue in Forbes, but says she will continue to lobby for enhanced services at the local Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) office.

Member for Orange Andrew Gee this week confirmed that the Forbes Motor Registry would not be closing, despite the opening of Parkes’ Service NSW Centre.
“I’ve been hearing rumours that the motor registry in Forbes was going to close, and that people would need to go to the new Service NSW ‘One-Stop-Shop’ Centre in Parkes to register their vehicles,” Mr Gee said.
“This is absolutely not the case and the Forbes Motor Registry will continue to operate as is, providing a number of transactions for local residents including motor vehicle registration and driver licenses and photo cards.”
Mr Gee also revealed Forbes has been identified as a suitable location for a Service NSW presence, which includes the motor registry and many other services.
He said more information will be provided as the design is refined.
Cr Miller welcomed the news, and said she would endeavour to find out more when she meets with Mr Gee and NSW Minister for Roads, Duncan Gay, this week.
“Hopefully [the Forbes registry] will have enhanced services, but I will know more after Thursday’s meeting,” Cr Miller said on Tuesday.
