Current mayor Phyllis Miller and deputy mayor Graeme Miller have both nominated for the role of mayor, which will be put to the vote at a special meeting held at council chambers today at 5.30pm.
A new deputy mayor will also be elected by councillors at this evening’s meeting.
There is currently one nomination for the role of deputy.
Nominations can still be received until just prior to both the mayor and deputy mayor elections, with the mayor to be voted for first.
Forbes Shire Council’s general manager Brian Steffen is the returning officer for the election.
Mr Steffen said voting will be conducted via a ballot system.
All nine councillors have confirmed their attendance for the special meeting, which is open to the public.
