A crowd of about 135 people turned out to sample some of the 580 entries of this year’s wine show, including the gold, silver and bronze medal wines, following the completion of judging last week.
Chairman of the NSW Small Winemakers Wine Show Committee, Mark Watts said it was a great night.
“It was a success, we’re pretty happy,” he said.
“There was plenty of good comments about what [wine] was there.
“The committee would like to thank everyone for turning up and supporting it.”
More than 1700 bottles of top quality wine were on offer on the night from some of the best wine regions in NSW, including the Hunter Valley, Southern Highlands, Canberra, Mudgee and Orange.
Mr Watts said the quality of wine was very high this year, with 40 gold medals awarded - an increase of 10 gold compared to last year.
“It was one of the more successful shows this year,” Mr Watts said.
“The quality of wine increased, coming off two good seasons; winemakers are starting to reap the benefits and putting out top wines.”
The Young region had success this year, picking up a few trophies, with trophies also awarded to wineries from Canberra, the Hunter Valley and the South Coast.
“It was spread out which is good, no one’s dominating,” Mr Watts said.
“There are equally good wines coming out of all regions in NSW.
