About 120 people dressed in their finest attended this year’s ball, and despite a smaller crowd than last year, by all accounts it was a great night.
“I think even though it was a smaller gathering of people, I felt everyone enjoyed that,” Show Ball committee member Susan Earl said.
“It didn’t detract from the night, having a more intimate feel.
“I thought it all went very well and I was very happy with it.”
In keeping with the spring theme, arrangements of canola brightened Town Hall and provided a perfect backdrop to the evening.
“The hall was decorated simply but beautifully,” Mrs Earl said.
The night was all about introducing this year’s Miss Showgirl entrants, Stacey Clarke and Brooke Tattersall, who were both interviewed on stage by showgirl coordinator Annabelle Green.
Last year’s Showgirl Shannen Toole spoke about her experience and encouraged others to take the opportunity to represent Forbes by being part of the competition in future years.
One of the judges, Tamworth-based ABC reporter Joanna Woodburn, also spoke and encouraged young women to step up.
The other judges this year were Adam Chudleigh and former showgirl Melanie Dunn.
“The showgirls and showgirl judge who spoke gave a positive message - we certainly need more than two showgirls,” Mrs Earl said.
“It’d be wonderful next year to have more showgirls, which would mean more people.”
A highlight of the evening was entertainer, Johnny Spitz, who entertained the crowd throughout the evening and had everyone up and dancing early on in the night.
“The entertainer was fantastic - he was able to adapt to everything that we needed, from old music to new music,” Mrs Earl said. “He was a real bonus.”
