She is an international model, broadcaster and entrepreneur with a finely tuned ear for good music.
She’s also an Aussie girl at heart.
Five minutes chatting to her and it is obvious that whatever the talented muso from WA puts her mind to she makes a success of it.
Four years ago as a 21-year-old in Miami she watched DJ Skrillex playing in front of a packed house. It was the lightning bolt moment that set her on her way and would shape her career moulding her into the international act she is today.
“I said to my friend at the time, I think I can do this too you know? I think I can be a DJ!” said Stacie.
“While my friend laughed at me I had this drive inside to learn about being a DJ and tap into music.
“I’ve always had an interest in music and so I decided to follow through with it.”
The rest is history as they say and what a great decision it was. The electro-beat queen has since gone on to play with some of the biggest names in the game at some of the biggest venues.
Her touring calendar has taken her to major cities all over the world playing alongside acts such as Tiesto, Steve Aoki, Nervo, Laidback Luke, the Stafford Brothers, Bag Raiders, and many others including DJ Skrillex.
“It has been hard work, constantly networking, learning and persistence,” she said.
“I recently played in Ecuador in front of nearly 50,000 people and it was then when I realised - you are actually doing this!
“It is still one of the biggest crowds I have played to anywhere in the world.”
But it hasn’t all been plain sailing. Stacie admits to the odd bout of nerves and does get scared from time to time. After all, she has only been in the industry for four years which by some standards is not long.
Yet what she lacks in time she makes up for with numerous abilities most musicians and DJs can only dream of. Stacie can read a room, apply a theme and deliver the right track at the right time, making her one of the most in demand acts on the DJ circuit.
She can also sing.
“I keep working hard and making my music,” she said.
“Yesterday I recorded a track with a producer from Brooklyn and I’m singing on it which is a first for me.
“I never thought I would sing but I am happy I wrote and sang my own song and can hopefully share it at Vanfest!”
She will also be working on a new track with Mikayla from X-Factor and is excited again to be getting out of her comfort zone.
“That’s what art and music is all about - challenging yourself, creating and innovating,” she said.
“It can give you goosebumps but it is exciting.
“I can’t wait for 2016 and 2017 as there is a lot more in store I can’t wait to share.”
An avid country music fan, Stacie says her inspirations though don’t come so much from country music but routines that make her happy.
“I love the beach and the sun as well as yoga and healthy living,” she said.
“These things inspire me and relax me.
“It helps me get motivated but stay grounded.”
Yet despite having the world at her feet and the choice of just about anything she wants, Stacie admits that if she could she would’ve been a weather girl if she wasn’t making music and modelling.
“Yes, I wanted to be the weather girl,” she laughed.
“Still do! But in all seriousness, I am enjoying making music, spinning tunes and developing and learning as an artist.”
And with stop overs like New York, Ecuador, Miami and Forbes, who can blame her?
Stacie Todd will be at Vanfest in one of the most anticipated sets of the festival. Don’t miss out!
