If you see aircraft flying low around Forbes in the next week, it’s probably not cause for concern, but rather part of regular flight path safety checks being carried out at regional aerodromes.

The checks are being conducted by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority to make sure instrument procedure flight paths at 16 aerodromes, including Forbes and Parkes, continue to be safe.
The checks are being performed by a twin-engine Cessna Conquest aircraft from November 30 (yesterday) and December 7.
CASA says low-level flying is an essential part of the safety exercise, with the aircraft down as low as several hundred feet at times, within a 35km of each aerodrome.
“Local residents may notice an uncommon flying pattern, but this is to make sure obstacles are accurately marked on charts and no new obstacles exist. Obstacles can be towers, trees, masts or buildings that can be a danger to aircraft,” CASA said in a statement advising of the checks.
CASA requires aerodrome flight path safety checks to be carried out every three years and has contracted the check flights to Corporate Air.
