The event was hosted by Orange Equestrian Club who run bi-monthly showjumping and dressage competition days to encourage people to have a go at riding in a competition in a friendly and inviting atmosphere.
Forbes’ Laurie Norris and Rachael Morgan had success on the day, taking home two firsts for Soldier and other minor placings for their horses Bella and White Magic.
A number of other local riders also had success, many of whom had never ridden in a competition previously.
Prue Baker of Garema brought her new mount May for her first open competition and was delighted to go ‘double clean’ in the 70cm jumping.
Rachel Garland from Wirrinya was also a first-time competitor, having only been riding for a year.
The Pearce siblings, Isobel, Megan and Joe all rode and had a great day, as did Tia Ashwell from Forbes who rode her horse Piece of Work and Forbes’ Erin Turner who took two horses.
The next competition will be held on Sunday, March 20 and all members of Orange Equestrian Club or Equestrian Australia (EA) are welcome to participate.
