The event has drawn a good contingent of local competitors as well as visitors and expect more than 40 participants ranging in age from 13 to 68 to take to the water.
Organiser Jim Cronin said they were thrilled with the first Forbes event, held last year, and keen to come back.
“The NSW Barefoot Water Ski Club was ecstatic about the crowd that came out to watch last year,” he said.
“They have told the other states ... word really got around in the sport.”
This year organisers are hoping to cater even more for spectators with a PA system and commentary throughout competition.
“The competition is judged by three judges, who are in the boat with the driver,” Cronin said.
“Each skiier gets a score. There are several categories.
“All the tricks have to be done cleanly.
“This year we will have the PA and be able to explain how it works for the crowd.”
Some of the most spectacular skiing will be seen during a demonstration from Australian barefoot ski team members this afternoon.
Competition will take a break about 4.30pm and from 5pm Tee-Jay Russo and Connor Rogers will perform for the crowd.
A coaching clinic yesterday was fully booked and Cronin said that anyone interested in the sport should go to the officials tent at the ski dam during the weekend and talk to organisers.
Catch the action at the Lake Forbes aquatic area (ski dam) from 8am to 6pm today.
Please note that the aquatic centre is closed to public use for the tournament.
Competition wraps up tomorrow (Sunday).
