The Platypi kicked off the start of the season with a barbecue and a game of touch football last Friday before the real training began on Tuesday.
First grade coach Heamani Lavaka said it was a great start to the season.
“Training was good this week,” he said.
“We had a really good training on Tuesday.”
While Lavaka was pleased with numbers, he encourages more people to come to training early on.
“On Tuesday we had 24 and yesterday [Thursday] 18,” he said.
“It’s a busy time because cricket is still on for some of them and others have work commitments. Some of them are just waiting until it gets closer, but I hope they come now.”
Training is on every Tuesday and Thursday at 6.30pm.
The Platypi face Mudgee in round one of the Blowes Clothing Cup on Saturday, April 2.
