The Forbes Town and District Band is commencing their Beginner Band class for 2016.
Beginner band is a great way of encouraging aspiring musicians to interact in a musical team.
Justin Screen of Mitchell Conservatorium has lead the Forbes Town and District Band since 2011 and has over 20 years’ experience teaching woodwind for school and leading concert bands.
The next information night for Beginner Band is Monday 8 February 2016 and the first Beginner Band class will kick off from every Monday from 6pm – 7pm on 15 February 2016 during school term at the recently renovated Forbes Town Band Hall at 165 Rankin Street where ages eight – 80+ are welcome.
If you already know how to play an instrument, the band is also recruiting members for the main concert band which meets at 7pm – 9pm every Monday during school term.
In recent years the Forbes Town and District Band has grown to more than 40 members and participates in many community events including Australia Day celebrations, ANZAC Day March, Heritage Week activities, Forbes and Bedgerebong Shows, Kalari–Lachlan River Arts Festival and Carols by Candlelight.
Membership is $20 per year and the band has a large range of instruments for hire for $50 per year.
