Last year’s inaugural Forbes triathlon has been described as an “overwhelming success” and the club is offering more events this year.
Nick Turner, local triathlete and one of the organisers, says it’s an ideal event for locals to try, to get a feel for triathlon.
“If you’re not confident about entering the triathlon as an individual you can enter as a team,” he said.
“One person can do the swim, another the bike leg and another the run.
“We’re trying to encourage a bit of friendly competition and offering a business house trophy this year - register a team under your business name in the sprint event and we’ll pick it up from there.”
The 2016 triathlon offers three options for adult entrants as well as a junior section to encourage families to be part of the day.
There is an enticer featuring a 200m swim, 10km bike ride and 2km run and a sprint event with 400m swim, 20km ride and 5km run.
The new Olympic distance is drawing entrants from further afield: a 1.5km swim, 40km ride and 10km run.
The midget event is for 12 years and under: there’s a 50m swim, 1km ride and 200m run.
Turner encouraged parents to bring their children along and join them in the event.
“The swim leg in the midgets is more like a wade and parents can run alongside the bike and run legs,” Turner said.
“This event is all about participation. Triathlon gives you three good forms of exercise and this is about getting a taste for it.”
Registration for midgets is up until 10.30am on the day with a gold coin donation. Parents / guardians need to sign off on the forms.
Organisers are asking everyone to register online beforehand to avoid disappointment.
Online registrations are already going well with competitors registering from across the region.

Those hoping to register on the day should be aware that, to ensure an on-time start for the event, registrations will strictly close at 7am.
