Now, we want to know across the region what you think. Is it a positive thing for all towns? Should those that don't have the third bin be looking at introducing one? If you have it, do you use it?

A third bin in your town
ORANGE: New garbage and recycling bins were delivered to Orange residents in March whether they need them or not.
Orange City Council spokesman Nick Redmond said council had evaluated the efficiency of issuing new bins to households as opposed to spot replacement.
“Across the Orange community there’s a vast range of differences between the current condition of the old red and yellow bins, and while some are in good condition others have been patched together by residents to keep them going until there’s a replacement,” he said.
BATHURST: A food and garden waste bin will be added to Bathurst’s weekly collection service from April.
Bathurst Regional Council has approved the addition of the third bin for Bathurst homes to complement the existing general waste and recycling collections.
The third bin, to carry a green lid, is designed for food and garden waste and will be collected weekly.
DUBBO: More than 500 surveys on household waste habits and trends were collected by Dubbo City Council recently as part of research into the introduction of a third bin to households.
The idea to introduce an organics and green waste bin was first floated by Dubbo City Council in March however, the proposal has been met with mixed results.
Under the new system, the organics bin would be collected weekly, while the mixed waste and recycling bins would be collected on alternating fortnights.
FORBES: Forbes residents will receive three new bins as part of Forbes Shire Council’s new kerbside waste, recycling and food and organics collection service.
The bins will be rolled out from Monday, February 15 to Monday, February 22, however the new green lidded bin for collection of your food and garden waste is not to be used until the service starts the week commencing April 4.
The familiar red and yellow bins will still be part of the service.
