Forbes Platypi were thrilled with a win against the Parkes Boars on Saturday, beating their twin-town rivals 32-10 and exacting revenge after losing both times the teams met last year.

After a slow start to the game and a close first half with the Platypi leading 10-3, Forbes eventually stormed ahead with a few quick tries in the second half to win by 22 points.
“We played well in the second half,” Platypi first grade coach Heamani Lavaka said.
“The first half was a very slow start for us, Parkes was keeping us honest.
“In the second half we started to play a little more controlled footy and we scored some really good tries out of it.”
Lavaka said while last week their strength was their breakdowns against Mudgee, that’s what let them down against Parkes.
“This week when we started to stick to our game plan, that’s when we scored those three tries at the end,” he said.
“Our forwards played a lot tighter instead of too wide too early and Parkes struggled to keep up to us when we had 14 phases where we scored a try on the wing and had no one to match the wing.”
Nathan Langilangi scored three of Forbes’ tries and earned himself one players’ player point.
Adrian Cole got two points, while once again Lavaka said Masi Seru was “brilliant”, earning the three points.
In the other games on Saturday, Forbes had a big loss in second grade (31-12) to Parkes but came away with a 14-5 win in Colts.
Forbes also won the under 17s (31-5) but lost under 13s (20-7).
Despite Forbes’ strong start in the Blowes Clothing Cup with two wins under their belt, Lavaka said he’s not taking anything for granted when they face Bathurst CSU this Saturday.
“I know we’ve got two out of two but we play CSU uni this week and they are a very fit team because they’re all young players,” he said.
“Hopefully we’ll get a few of our older guys back this week, although what we’ve got at the moment, we’re not complaining.”
