“It was good - we had a good day, good entries and good weather,” co-organiser Shaun Read said. “Everything went off well, we had no incidents, no one got too hurt.”
A great crowd turned out to watch all the action at Forbes Showgrounds on Saturday with numbers similar to the last two years.
“We had a really good crowd, they were really well behaved,” Mr Read said. “We appreciate their support.”
There were plenty of locals competing throughout the day and a number of them came away with prizemoney.
Shaun Read himself placed second in the open saddle bronc ride, Ben Molloy was second in the 11-14 years junior steer ride, while Shaun’s son Kaze Read tied with his cousin Koby Read to take out the local poddy ride, which, as always, was one of the most popular events of the day.
Another popular event was the Jaye Davie Memorial Steer Ride which saw a large number of local riders battle it out to claim the Ride Tuff trophy buckle donated by Jaye’s family.
Dylan Davie was one of the locals competing in that event, in memory of his brother Jaye, who was killed in a car accident last year.
The winner of the Jaye Davie Memorial Steer Ride was Isaac Manion, who happens to work at Forbes Livestock where Jaye worked.
Following the completion of the rodeo, everyone partied on at Forbes Services Memorial Club to the Jade Martin Band.
Mr Read said he’d like to thank the hardworking committee and the sponsors of the event who all pitched in to help out. He said he appreciated the support of the community who came through the gate and the local organisations who helped out on the gates and in the canteen.
“Without them there wouldn’t be a rodeo,” he said.
“I hope we can have a big future together.”
