A fundraiser is being held tonight at Forbes Sports and Recreation Club to help raise funds for Warren Burton, a well-known local man badly injured in a fire that also destroyed his home and possessions.
The evening will kick off at 6pm and will feature excellent prizes donated by businesses and communities who have all got to know Mr Burton.
It will feature a chocolate wheel, auctions and activities for children, and barbecue food available for a gold coin donation.
Raffles are also being held - for firewood, and another for a holiday for two on the Gold Coast.
The latter, donated by Mr Burton’s employer Millers Metal, consists of four nights accommodation at Jupiters, return air fares from Parkes and $500 spending money.
There remains an impressive, and lengthy, list of donated prizes available tonight - a specially made fire pit and chairs, signed St George guernsey, Australian cricket bat and Jeff Fenech gloves.
There is a Jonathon Thurston guernsey, esky, chainsaw, pushbike, tyres, cricket set, barbecue, car detail, carpet cleaning, meat packs, work boots, swag, fishing and perfume packs, painting, zoo pass, Parramatta Eels game passes, LED lights, firewood, gift vouchers and so much more.
Money raised from the fundraiser will be given to Mr Burton to help meet any shortfall from insurance to rebuilding inside and outside his home.
Mr Burton spent almost five weeks in Sydney’s Concorde hospital, but has since come home faced with the task of rebuilding, and continuing his recovery.
“Don’t forget tonight - auction, chocolate wheel, music, sausage sizzle,” an organiser said.
