The Mother’s Day Classic is on again and Yvonne Shaw is encouraging locals to come for a walk around Lake Forbes for the cause.
An outstanding $3.1 million was raised across Australia in 2015, bringing the overall total to $27.4 million.
This makes the Mother’s Day Classic Australia’s largest fundraiser of National Breast Cancer Foundation research.
This year, their aim is to raise $4 million to fund breast cancer research.
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in Australia - one in eight will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.
On average, seven women die from breast cancer in this country every day. However, five year survival rates are increasing and now stand at 89 per cent.
Register online through mothersdayclassic.com.au for $20 per walker before May 4 or on the day, at Lions Park for $25.
Children are $10 or family registrations are available.
Registration on the day - for an extra $5 per person - starts at 8am.
There will be a minute’s silence at 9am before the walk starts. It’s a 4km circuit of the lake.
Organisers are also fundraising through a raffle - tickets available when sellers are outside Bernardi’s IGA or from Forbes NRMA.
