Kids learn skills at holiday soccer camp
Thirty-five boys and girls travelled from Forbes, Eugowra, Parkes, Cowra and Condobolin for a two-day school holiday camp to kick off the 2016 season. The camp was a new initiative of the Forbes Soccer Club committee.
Football Federation Australia B Licence participant coach Doug Mckenzie designed and delivered the program with assistance from FFA C Licence coach, Johnny Kuntze and Russell Keen (Skills Training Certificate).
For two days, the kids participated in fun games, ball mastery sessions learning up to 20 different ball skills.
They learned Ajax Academy skills, a number of different one-on-one and two-on-two sessions, possession and pressure and small-sided games.
They finished day one with a mini world cup and day two with a mini European cup.
Kids enjoyed drinks and barbecue with great thanks to Woolworths Forbes for providing much needed energy food.
With record numbers in juniors and adults signing up for Forbes Soccer Club, professional training programs for the kids on Monday nights at Botanical Gardens (see Facebook for details) and a massive increase in the number and quality of Forbes juniors being selected for Western NSW Mariners, Lachlan United (Western Youth League), Lachlan Public Schools Representative and Wilcannia, Polding and Queanbeyan Catholic Schools teams - 2016 will be a bumper year for local soccer.
