Narromine put the first try on the board 10 minutes in after five eight Daryl Cubby found winger DJ Gordan in support to score out wide for four-nil.
Four minutes later, Forbes replied when hooker Hayden Bolam scored from dummy half, converted by Traie Merritt for Magpies to lead 6-4.
Aided by the wind, Forbes continued to attack and after 26 minutes Brodie Hodges scored and Traie Merritt converted for 12-4.
Veteran half Mick Clarke found space in the Forbes defence for Tim Walker to reduce the score to Forbes 12 Narromine 8.
On half time, Forbes centre Ethan Gaffney scored and was awarded an eight-point try for an infringement in the touchdown.
The conversion out wide was missed but the penalty from in front was successful by Merritt for Forbes to lead 18-8 at the break.
Forbes started the second half in bright fashion and in the early minutes Bolam was penalised for a double-movement in scoring for the score to remain 18-8.
Play was even for the next 15 minutes before replacement Dylan Gunn found space out wide to score for Forbes 22 Narromine 8.
Five minutes later Ben Maguire, the best player on the field, showed pace from 40 metres out to score under the posts. Merritt converted to move the score to 28-8.
At the other end of the field, best for Narromine, Daryl Cubby, showed skill and pace to break the Magpie defence to put Mick Burn in under the post to reduce the lead to 28-14.
Magpies captain coach Jake Grace was rewarded for his efforts in scoring for Matt Roylance to extend the lead to 34-14.
Gunn was on the end of a backline movement to score his second try out wide moving the score to 34-14.
On the bell, Maguire was full of running to score his second try for Roylance to convert.
Final score was 44-14.
While all the Magpies played well, best of game were Maguire and Grace while front rower Ben Robinson was tireless in attack.
In the backs, Matt Royalance and five eight Mitchell Burke had the backline moving forwards.
Magpies welcomed back Mitchell Andrews who showed glimpses of his talent.
Excellent for Narromine were Daryl Cubby who was dangerous with the ball and Mick Clarke.
The Jets suffered a setback prior to kick off when captain coach Luke Thompson was declared unfit to play.
Under 18s romp home for 64-12 win
A massive win on the weekend is going to bolster the Magpies Under 18s side as they head into this coming weekend’s clash against joint ladder leaders, Nyngan.
The young Magpies walked away with a 64-12 win against Narromine on Sunday, and it will do a lot towards boosting confidence for next weekend’s outing.
Coach Ben Robinson said that the win, the second for the season but the first by such a large margin, was the perfect opportunity for the side to work out set plays, structures and timing.
Narromine started the match at a slight disadvantage from the start, running onto the paddock with 12 players.
They were down one more later in the game as one man was lost to injury.
“It was a bit hard for them, but we worked to our structure and things trying to get it perfect,” Robinson said.
“For the first half of the game we struggled to get structure, but by the second half we really found that structure.
“We did our set plays, everything that we had practised in training, we were very happy with the second half,” Robinson said.
The Under 18s face Nyngan this week, who share poll position on the ladder with Wellington, in what Robinson said will be a ‘real test’ for the side.
But with the win weekend’s win under their belt, there is that extra confidence.
“We feel strong going into next week, we have no excuses and it will be great to see how they go,” Robinson said.
The Under 18s scored their first win of the season against Dubbo CYMS prior to last weekend’s bye.
