Allan Charles Sweeney, aged 35, of Coolabah Street Forbes, pleaded guilty to the charge of special category driver drive with special range PCA.
Sweeney, who represented himself, told the court he only got his driver’s licence when he was 31 years old.
“Obviously you’re a good person, a hard worker, you’re much more mature than a lot of other young people on their Ps,” Local Court Magistrate Robert Rabbidge said when handing down his sentence.
According to police facts, the offence occurred at about 12.10pm on Saturday, February 6, 2016 when police saw a silver Holden Commodore turn right into Farnell Street from McDonnell Street without indicating.
Police caught up with the vehicle at the intersection of Farnell Street and Cedar Crescent and pulled the vehicle over.
The driver, Sweeney, admitted to drinking two schooners of beer and produced a red P1 licence.
He did not have P-plates on the vehicle.
A breath test returned a positive result and the accused was taken to Forbes Police Station for a breath analysis.
Due to the accused being a holder of a P1 drivers licence, this reading is classified as a special range Prescribed Concentration of Alcohol.
