A gardener at the Forbes Riverside Community Garden recently dug up this huge sweet potato.
Estimated to weigh more than 15kg, it took two people to hold it comfortably.
Council’s resource officer Leon Ross said more people are welcome to come on board as community garden members or as private plot holders.
It’s great for people who don’t have space in their backyard for a veggie patch or who would like to learn from others.
“There’s a lot of local knowledge around vegetable growing,” Mr Ross said.
Vegetables as well as potted colour are sold at the garden’s shopfront as well as markets.
“There’s always something growing there and they’re always looking for more people to help,” Mr Ross said.
If you’d like to be part of the gardens, there’s a working bee on the first Saturday of each month.
The garden is located at the old NSW Forestry Nursery, Reymond Street, Forbes.
