The Food Revolution Day and Forbes Farmers’ Markets were moved inside to Town Hall on Saturday due to the weather, but that didn’t stop a large crowd from attending the day.
Forbes Food Revolution Day ambassador Lucy Pearce was thrilled with how the day turned out.
“Despite the cold weather and rain it was a fantastic day,” she said.
“We all managed to fit into the hall, it was nice and snug.
“We had good feedback from people who have come all three years.”
Mrs Pearce said the multicultural section was very popular and busy the whole time.
“We had Indigenous food - bush tucker including kangaroo, emu and crocodile meat,” she said.
“The Iranian food was fantastic; it was very different but really tasty. We didn’t have any left at the end of the day.
“Then we had sushi - this is their third year coming on the day to help us out.
“The healthy pizza was very popular too.”
The demonstrations and presentations - including gardening demonstrations with Matt Pearce, omelettes and bircher muesli cooking demonstrations with Chef Tammy Montgomery from Forbes North Public School kitchen, the Small Acres Cyder presentation about their branding, and the demonstration on how to debone a chicken by Stephen Tamplin from Pride of Oak Premier Tablelands Meat - were also well-attended.
Children enjoyed making fruity faces with Forbes Neighbourhood Watch, as well as the pot up and take home seedling workshop with Forbes CWA Evening Branch.
Mrs Pearce said the facepainting by Bunnings staff was “beautiful”.
“It was a really good day,” Mrs Pearce said.
“It worked really well being in with the Farmers’ Market.
“I’d like to thank all the people who volunteered their time, sponsored things, supported us in any way they could, the people who turned up on the day to support us, presenters and our partners - Forbes Schools as Community Centres and Forbes Shire Council.”
