The Magpies had the bye last weekend and captain coach Jake Grace said the team was feeling refreshed after the weekend away from football.
“It was good to have a break after that game (against Parkes) to give everyone’s bodies a break,” he said.
“But we were keen to get out to training, we worked hard in that week off.”
Forbes hosted and dominated Westside in the opening round of the competition, but the Dubbo team stepped up for a win against Wellington last weekend.
Grace said Forbes is prepared for some competition in this weekend’s game.
“Every team in the competition, we have to get out there and play against,” he said.
“Dubbo Westside is at home this time.”
The Magpies lost their last game, the long weekend clash with rivals Parkes Spacemen.
Grace said the Magpies had identified a few things to work on from that game.
“We are at that stage in the season where we know what we have to do, it’s just a matter of getting out there and doing it,” he said.
“And I have every confidence that everyone on the team will do that this weekend.”
The wet weather has required the team to modify their training and may affect Sunday’s game, but the team’s plan hasn’t really changed.
“Our game plan will be the same,” Grace said.
“If it’s wet, we need to make sure we don’t turn over cheap ball, that tends to happen when it’s wet.
“But we have an expectation of ourselves in that regard.”
Unfortunately it doesn’t look like Grace will lead his side onto the field, he is still working to get his injured ankle back to 100 per cent strength.
The Magpies also still missing Chris Kirby and Martin Herbert, but have Zac Merritt back in the regular starting line.
While the line-up was to be finalised at training on Thursday night, Grace expected that the team would be similar to the side that faced Parkes on the long weekend.
Westside coach Robbie Dunn hopes newest signing Joshua Trindall can help inspire the Rabbitohs through the remainder of the season.
Trindall is a relative of former South Sydney and Canterbury player Darrell Trindall.
