Wasn't the weather on the weekend great? It was so nice to sit in the sunshine and feel alive again. Our unsealed roads were closed to heavy vehicles after the rain on Wednesday and the condition will be reviewed today at midday.

Just a reminder when you are driving around the Shire, there are a number of roads that have been affected by rain creating soft edges and potholes so please travel with care. We will comple repairs as quickly as possible.
Our July meeting was yesterday afternoon and it was our new General Manager Danny Green's first Council meeting since arriving in Forbes.
Please mark Wednesday, August 3 in your diaries as we are having a welcome function for him at the Forbes Services Memorial Club from 5.30pm to 7pm. This is a chance for everyone to come along, say hello . Everyone is welcome, please RSVP for catering purposes by calling 6850 2361.
Another event to mark in your calendar is the Forbes NAIDOC Week celebrations on August 23. NAIDOC Week is a great opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate with our traditional owners as one united Australia.
The Census is on August 9 and Council is hosting three fill in a form sessions to make sure everyone in Forbes is counted. Two sessions will be at Forbes Library and one will be at Forbes North Public School. I will bring you more details next week.
We are currently working on our End of Term Report, which is part of our Community Strategic Plan. This report highlights all the work Council has done in the past four years and will be adopted at our August Council meeting.
Don’t forget our Council election will be held on Saturday, September 10. Candidate nominations will open on the August 1 and will close on Wednesday, August 10.

Council has had a number of economic development enquiries and opportunities arise recently.
We are hoping that very shortly we will able to make a public statement in relation to this, but for now I can assure you that Forbes is definitely on the map.
