Trained at Goulburn by Scott Collings, Ultimate Chance has won 11 races but although placed over 1600 metres is yet to win over the distance and has 61kg to carry from a wide barrier.
Ultimate Chance is racing in good form with successive wins at the Sapphire Coast and Cessnock before a top run when fourth behind Slots at Canterbury last Saturday.
Greg Ryan has ridden 124 winners for the 2015/2016 racing season which concludes on Sunday and as usual will have an army of followers for the Forbes meeting.
A recent meeting at Corowa provided a good pointer for the Forbes Cup when four of Monday's rivals filled the first 4 places.
The Jim Scobie, Gundagai trained Zero To Ten took the lead turning for home then held on to win the 1600 metre Open Handicap from the Nick Heywood, Wagga Wagga trained Leucura and another pair of Wagga Wagga trained gallopers Grand Allowance and Heysen from the Wayne Carroll stable.
Brett Thompson, winner of the Central Districts trainers premiership for the past two seasons has the Coonamble Cup winner Dark Mojo engaged in the Forbes Cup which has attracted a field of 13.
Considerable interest will centre on the Forbes Services Memorial Club Class 2 Plate,1100 metres, where the very promising local filly Lake Lugarno resumes after a spell.
At debut the Barry Molloy, Forbes trained Lake Lugarno ran second at Narromine then won in impressive style at Wellington and Cowra when ridden by the now retired Forbes jockey Catherine Newcombe.
To be ridden by top Cowra jockey Mathew Cahill, Lake Lugarno has drawn a very wide barrier in the big field.
Rivals on Monday include the Andrew Molloy, Cowra trained Elveda Vegas, a winner at Forbes last year and the Peter Nestor, Dubbo trained Marra Creek which looked well above average when winning at debut.
Fields are excellent for the eight-race card with the first race scheduled for 12.40pm and free entry.
