Mrs Slessor, aged 59, was well known in the Forbes community.
Her son Alex John Briggs was charged on Friday evening with her murder. He has been refused bail until September 5.
Investigators are seeking help from members of the public into the last known movements of Mrs Slessor and Mr Briggs and are asking that if anybody has any information that they call the Lachlan Detectives on 6862 9999 or via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
"It may be the case that people have small bits of information that they believe are irrelevant but these can often fit into a bigger picture,” Acting Crime Manager for the Lachlan LAC, Detective Sergeant Howard said.
“We are very keen to hear from anybody who saw either Vivienne or Alex prior to this tragic occurrence or has any information which they believe may assist.
"We believe that there had been sightings of a male who we believe to be Alex Briggs walking around this area of town between 7pm on Thursday night up until 7am the next morning when he was arrested and that a phone box in Union Street had been used."
If you have any information, please call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Lachlan Detectives on 6862 9999.
