Bulldogs came from behind to draw level with the Kangaroos over the closing rounds of the season, giving the Bathurst club a bonus on top of all four of their grades once again making the finals.
“Both clubs probably deserved it,” Bulldogs president John Maynard said.
“Dubbo were nine points in front going into the last round. They could get 10 from the weekend and we could get 20. We needed a bonus point in all grades but colts missed out.
“The club championship is really important because it shows the club isn’t just strong in one grade. We’ve got the depth at every level.
“It’s not something you can take for granted though. You’ve got to keep trying to push the club forward.”
Bulldogs first grade finished the season in fourth while second and third grade will travel to Forbes for Saturday’s qualifying finals thanks to second place results.
Colts scored the strongest finish of any Bulldogs side this season, finishing their competition as minor premiers.
“Our colts are currently undefeated … and they’ve had to do it with almost a whole new team. With the move to under 19s we had to build the team up from scratch again,” Maynard said.
