Results of last week major semi finals
11 years Joeys 12 defeated Wallabies 5
The game started with both team scoring 2 two in the first quarter. Shyeka Griffith for Wallabies made an immediate impact on the game, intercepting many passes for her team, and helping to bring the ball up to the attack.
The half time score was 5 to 3 with Joeys in the lead, thanks to great work by goal attack Ellen Dolbel and centre Zoe Anderson. Third quarter saw Joeys dominate scoring 6 goals to 2, and making the lead very hard for Wallabies to catch.
Maddy Kemp and Breeann Girot played very good netball for Joeys, and Wallabies players Taneesha Riddle, Maddy Cannon and Melissa Read played good netball for Wallabies.
Joeys now go straight through to the grand final, and Wallabies will play Koalas in the final this weekend.
Congratulations to all the players who have improved their skills over the past couple of weeks.
13 years Magic 37 defeated Fever 13: Magic continued their undefeated run in the competition with some great netball. Sophie Jones as centre and Ellie Flick playing goal shooter were outstanding for Magic, who lead each quarter.
Goals scored for the first quarter were 9-1 to Magic and 9-5 also to Magic in the second quarter, with Fever starting to put their teamwork into play. Ella Nicholls lead the way for Fever, never giving up for her team, with Alison Reeves supporting with good netball.
Magic continued to win each quarter, with great teamwork. Magic will now go straight through to the grand final, setting up an expected very close and exciting game between Fever and Firebirds in the final on Saturday.
Opens Chucklers 25 defeated Hannah's Team 21, in a very close game. The scores were even many times during the game.
Chucklers have come together for the Saturday competition, and the team is made up of a majority of mums who want to go out and enjoy a game of netball, thus the name Chucklers. The team has become a very competetive team, with less chuckling and more skills played, as the players get back into their old ways where great skills were played years ago.
Chucklers were ahead at the half time break 11-7, with great team work from goal shooter Kerrie Priest, centre Brooke Howarth and goal defence Ari Summa, leading the way and supported by the rest of the team.
Hannah's Ellen McLinden, Hannah Mattiske and Brianna Duncan never gave up, and could have nearly snatched a win for their team. Hannah's team caught up in the third quarter winning it 10-5 and giving the team the lead at three quarter time by one goal.
A strong final quarter by Chucklers stamped the win, with a goal count of 9-4, and the final score 25-21 to Chucklers. Chucklers will now go straight through to the grand final game, with Hannah's Team fighting it out with Libby's Team for the chance to pay in the grand final.
Congratulations to all the players who played in all the games last weekend. Sportsmanship was outstanding, and all games were a pleasure to umpire. Good luck to all the players and teams playing in the finals on Saturday.
The Forbes Netball Association participated in the Shoosh for Kids week, run by the NSW Government designed to remind everyone to;
if your comment is negative, then shoosh; if your comment is directed at a player, then shoosh; if your comment is directed at an umpire or match official, then shoosh; reward good play by both teams with applause, if you can't, then shoosh.
Today’s photo is of many of the girls who play Saturday competition, telling everyone to "shoosh". The girls are all wearing their playing shirts sponsored by Forbes Services Memorial Club.
