A police spokesperson said chains and locks were cut in the offenders’ efforts to gain access to the secure site.
The break-in occurred between 5pm Tuesday and 8am Wednesday and police are appealing for anyone with information or who saw suspicious activity in the Sheriff Street area to contact them.
Investigations into the theft continue, anyone with information can report directly to Forbes Police Station on 6853 9999 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Police also found a small black bag containing what is believed to be amphetamines in Thomson Street, Forbes on Wednesday afternoon.
