This was the fourth year that Forbes CWA, with assistance from some of the Forbes Evening CWA ladies, has offered a sheltered space at the Forbes Show for parents to change or feed their babies and a seat for anyone needing a rest.

It was probably our quietest year since we started offering this service, with the inclement weather and local flooding reducing numbers in attendance.
Forbes Show usually coincides with the Country Women’s Association of NSW “Awareness Week”, and this year was no exception; the perfect opportunity to not only provide a shelter for show-goers but also inform them about the aims and activities of the organisation as a whole as well as at a local level.
The Forbes branch of CWA is now approaching its 90th birthday with members planning a celebratory luncheon in October, but that’s not the only activity coming up for us.
We will be holding a street furniture sale at the CWA Hall in Lachlan Street from 9am Saturday, September 24 with desks, tables, chairs and other items from the old Baby Health Centre – come along and grab a bargain.
Our AGM is on Friday, October 7th from 3pm at the CWA Hall and we are looking forward to having some new office-bearers coming on board to help steer the branch through the coming year with enthusiasm and style.
Also ahead is a special fundraising stall at the Forbes Rotary markets in November, with the proceeds from sales of home baking, plants, craft and bric-a-brac to be donated to the McGrath Foundation to assist in a small way with them to provide much-needed Breast Care Nurses in rural areas.
We would also like to take this opportunity to express our thanks to the Forbes Shire Council for their continued support with a donation towards our annual rates.
Monthly meetings of the Forbes CWA are held at the CWA Hall in Lachlan Street on the first Friday of the month (except January) starting at 1:30pm, and we welcome anyone interested to see what we do and have a chat.
