With more rain forecast over the next few days, the NSW SES recommends that residents within the nominated areas should prepare to evacuate.
Nominated areas include:
- Lachlan Valley Way, east of Condobolin
- Officers Parade, north and west of Graf Street
- Lachlan Street between William Street and Denison Street
- Southern side of Bathurst Street between Denison Street and Gordon Street
- Lachlan Valley Way and Kiacatoo Road to the west of Condobolin
- Molong Street between Mooney Street and Goobang Bridge.
Residents should monitor the situation and be prepared to evacuate when instructed to do so. A Flood Evacuation order will be issued by the NSW SES if evacuation is required.
Wherever possible, people should go and stay with family or friends, or make other accommodation arrangements.
If an Evacuation Order is issued, an emergency assembly area will be opened by Family and Community Services (FACS) at Condobolin High School at Busby Street, Condobolin.
As you prepare for evacuation, you should:
- Raise belongings by placing them on tables, beds and benches. Put electrical items on top.
- Make arrangements for your pets to be looked after and well fed. You can either take them with you to an evacuation centre in a pet carrier or on a leash, or arrange for them to have temporary accommodation. For temporary assistance with companion pets or livestock, contact the DPI Animal Assistance Hotline on 0417 829 310.
- Collect together medicines, personal and financial documents, mementos and photos.
- If possible, check to see if your neighbours need help.
- Take seven days' supply of clothing, medicines and personal hygiene products.
- If you are planning to go the evacuation assembly area, take blankets/sleeping bags, pillows and sleeping mats.
- Find out where to turn off the electricity and gas.
- Continue to listen to a local radio station for updates.
Remember to never walk, ride or drive through floodwater. If you require emergency assistance or re-supply of essential items, call the NSW SES on 132 500 and if life-threatening, call 000. www.ses.nsw.gov.au #NSWSES
