The existing playground will be demolished and an entire new playground constructed in the same location.
The new playground will be larger and features a gyro disc, a t-swing with a toddler seat and climbing equipment with a slide.
General Manager Danny Green said the upgrade is part of Council’s 15-year replacement program.
“Already the upgrades to Apex Lakeside Park and Nelson Park have been very well received by the community,” Mr Green said.
“This new upgrade at Hughie Wilson Park will cater for all age groups.
“The next playground to be upgraded next year is at Mable Green Park.”
The old playground at Hughie Wilson Park has been taken away, with the new playground construction scheduled to commence this week although weather could affect that.
The new playground should be ready to use by the end of this month.
