Family fun during the day will include a jumping castle, demonstrations by the Forbes Snake Catcher at 10am and 1pm, Barkley’s Barkers dog display, tabloid games for the kids run by Forbes Little Athletics, and the Animal Nursery will be open for the day too. Market stalls will be selling a range of goods to the crowd, so remember to check them out too. There will be plenty to feed you, with the canteen open, an ice cream truck for the kids and a coffee van to meet the grown-up’s caffeine needs.
Yard Dog Trials will be starting at 7.30am, so make sure you have a look at those as you come through the gate. Horse Ring Events will commence at 9am, and with over $10,000 in prizes, prize money and garlands, the competition should be fierce! The Working Hunter classes involve riding horses over rustic jumps, and this will be happening in front of the Grandstand, in Ring 4 after lunch.
The Dog High Jump commences at 2pm. If you are entering your dog in the competition, make sure you are there to register at 1.30pm. If you have a springy dog, it is definitely worth entering – there are three dog height divisions, and the prizes in each are $25 for 1st, $15 for 2nd and $10 for 3rd. Bring Rover along, and see how he goes.
We still have some spaces available for market stalls, if you would like information on having a market stall space, feel free to call Julie Hurkett at the Show Office on (02) 6852 1311, or email us on forbesshow@gmail.com or contact us through the Forbes Show Facebook page, or forbesshow.com.
Entry on the day will be a gold coin at the gate, or $5 per car – an absolute bargain for a day of entertainment, with the bonus of supporting your local Show Society. For those who love watching the Horse Ring Events, they will also be competing on Sunday 23rd, from 9am.
The Ladies’ Auxiliary do a wonderful job at the Show each year, and are back again for our postponed competitions this year too. They will be supplying meals and refreshments to our judges and stewards who have volunteered their time over the course of the weekend. If you would like to make a donation to the Ladies’ Auxiliary, in the form of eggs, slices, or anything else; please contact Tommy Parker on 6852 3861.
Our next meeting is Tuesday, October 18 at The Vandenberg Hotel starting at 7.30pm, all are welcome.
