The storm has resulted in power lines being brought down across Parkes with hundreds of trees across main roads and throughout town.
Council's Director of Engineering Services, Ben Howard said after inspection and works carried out overnight and this morning, the areas of town that stand to be focused on include Eugowra Road, Thurlstone Street, Bogan Road, Victoria Street, Henry Parkes Centre and the main street.
"Council staff worked from 7pm through to midnight on clearing the fallen trees working through priority roads and highways before moving to next tier priorities,” he said.
“At the end of last night, all roads were opened with access however debris still lined road corridors, verges and guttering in the urban sections of town.
“Council also provided assistance to emergency personnel at several locations with the wall at the Gecko Cafe on the Newell Highway collapsing across the highway and also attending to the Swan Cafe with concern of the potential collapse of their wall and awning.
"Even with the limited resources, staff worked tirelessly through the night and will be continuing to work over the weekend due to the significant number of trees down in an attempt to restore that the road users and pedestrian safety to normality.”
Mr Howard said safety to the community is paramount.
“Motorists need to be aware of these hazardous conditions, drive in a safe and responsible manner whilst being prepared for debris and limbs as winds are still prevailing which may result in further trees falling,” he said.
Council's Director of Infrastructure, Andrew Francis said the Parkes Water Treatment Plant was also affected by power outages overnight.
"The Parkes Water Treatment facility has been unable to produce water until late this morning,” he said.
“The supply to residents was not affected, however some areas in East Parkes may have experienced low pressure due the booster pumps being unable to operate at the top of Barton Street.
"Power supply was also interrupted to the pump that connects water to Peak Hill which has affected water supply to rural users between Parkes and Peak Hill including The Dish.
“Power has now been restored, so supply is expected to be up and running soon.”
Damage across a number of council premises has also been sustained including the Henry Parkes Centre and Parkes Pool.
Both facilities remains closed today with no power.
A large number of pine trees adjoining the car park at the Henry Parkes Centre have fallen on structures and are affecting access to nearby properties.
Council, emergency services and Essential Energy are working hard to restore all services and ensure safety to the community.
Some households had power restored at 1.47am this morning, others were restored at 1.33pm today.
Residents are reminded to call 000 in an emergency situation, or in relation to Council infrastructure and services to call the emergency after hours number 1800 648 585.
