“The Forbes Evening CWA branch is delighted to be able to support this cause as we are keen for our donation to benefit local people,” secretary Karen Wright said.
McGrath breast cancer nurse Dianne Green said the machine was used on both breast cancer patients and others who had had surgery.
Lymphoedema is an uncomfortable swelling that develops when lymph fluid builds up in the soft tissue, it is common after breast cancer surgery where lymph nodes are removed.
The Physio Touch helps reduce the swelling and pain without the physical demand on a clinician to massage.
The Physio Touch was introduced in Australia last year and is available at metropolitan hospitals, but only at Lourdes Private Hospital in this region.
It is being used world-wide in chronic wound management, scar healing, fibrotic tissue breakdown and lymphoedema management. It can also be used in general scar tissue management and inflammation after hip or knee replacement.
Forbes Evening CWA meets on the second Thursday evening of each month and any ladies interested in joining can contact Karen on 0407002937.
The campaign for a local machine was an enormous success, more on the Long Lunch by the Lake fundraiser, page 8.
