Leo Curran welcomed everyone and outlined the concept and operation of the community garden, on the former NSW Forestery nursery site, established five years ago.
With 30 members, 14 having individual beds, the objective is to offer a place for people of diverse ages and backgrounds to form friendships and social bonds which contribute to a sense of community, whilst learning and sharing gardening knowledge.
The obvious benefits being enjoying fresh food that you have grown and getting active in the process. The garden beds display corn, peas, beans, tomatoes, lettuce, turnips, brussel sprouts, cabbages etc, grown organically as well as fruit from citrus trees in this very peaceful place.
