Funds raised at the four-person ambrose will be donated to the Forbes and District Lions Club’s flood relief fund.
St.George Branch Manager Andrew Kerr said the day would be a great fundraiser for those affected by the floods and St George was proud to be the major sponsor.
“The golf day will be an important day for our community after a difficult few months,” he said.
“We invite players of all skill levels to take part in what promises to be a great day, with prizes on offer and a chance to improve your golf skills.”
Forbes Golf Club Chairman Andrew McDonald said many in the Forbes town and farming community had suffered major setbacks as a result of the prolonged rain and flood conditions experienced during the year.
The Golf Club – unable to be used for nearly two months due to flooding – was one of those dramatically affected and course fees from the day will also help the club with its restoration work.
“We are very grateful for the support of St.George Bank in holding this Charity Day to assist golf course restoration and to help community members via Lions Club,” Forbes Golf Club chairman Andrew Macdonald said.
“Please form and nominate teams to play in what will be an enjoyable day of team golf for players of all standards.”
Phone Daniel Newton at the Pro Shop on 68511 554 to sign up – form a team or he can help group players.
On the day, gather at 10.30am for a shotgun start at 11am. The Lions will provide a barbecue after play.
Farming families who need financial assistance following the floods – for food, fuel, stock feed and fencing – can attend the HACC Centre in Harold Street between 10am and 2pm Tuesday and Thursday or contact Peter Bright on 0419 463 803.
Lions president Ray Judge says there is no red tape associated with applying for assistance, it is given based on need.
The process also helps local business that suffered a loss of trade due to flooding as vouchers are given to be used at participating local businesses, who then invoice Lions.
