January 9 we played a six table Mitchell movement. The North South winners were Beth and John Biggs on 61.70 per cent with Jenny Freeman and Joan Reilly in second place on 60.00 per cent. The East West winners were Judy Kerr and Helen Hurley on 57.50 per cent with Elizabeth and Ray Jelbart in second place on 57.10 per cent.

On Thursday, January 12 we played a four table Howell movement. The winners were Gai Hudson and Marie Jolly on 65.60 per cent with Beth and John Biggs in second place on 61.50 per cent and in third place on 58.30 per cent were Judy Kerr and Geoff Coles. A reminder to all members that annual fees are due before the end of January.

Indoor bowls
We are back playing bowls again even if it was a hot day.
We did not have many for our first day back we all had a great afternoon. Winners for the day Sue Smith and Vera McPetire 2 wins 1 loss 27 points. Runners-up Sandy Hepburn and Betty Rees 2 wins 1 loss 22 points. Chocolate went to Denny Smith Doreen Whitworth and Sophie Nash 2 losses 1 win. Sophie played very well.
Come along to the Community Youth Centre and try your hand a indoor bowls all you need is your self names in 1.15pm for 1.30pm start on a Wednesday. We hope every one is over the Christmas and we wish every one a great New Year and we hope 2017 will be a fantastic year for every one.

Veterans Golf
The recent spell of hot weather has not deterred Veteran golfers who were out in force last week for Cheating Tuesday and the weekly Forbes/Parkes comp on Thursday.
The Elvis Festival had a bearing on the number of starters for the Thursday 12 hole competition with only three visitors in the field of 22 played in Forbes.
Winner was Forbes' Peter Barnes who appears to have a liking for the warmer weather with some good rounds lately and last week winning with 27 points from Frank 'World Champion' Hanns (F) one shot in appears and on a count-back from Ted Morgan (F).
David Williams kept the winners in Forbes taking the Bradman trophy with a solid 15 points on a count-back from Mark Toohey and Lynnie Roberts.Ball sweep to 24 points; 26 Ted Morgan, 25 Ken Sanderson (F), 24 Garry Collits (F), Geoff Drane (F), Fred Collie (F), Lyndon Byrne (F).
Nearest the pins: Ninth A grade Garry Collits, B Lyndon Byrne, 18th A Peter Barnes. In the Mick Miller Shield Forbes 'walked home' with 152 points to Parkes' 58.
Thursday's play will be 18 holes in Parkes with noms from 9.30am for a 10am tee-off. Last Tuesday Barry Parker scored best with 32 points for the 12 hole comp and courtesy four a five on the seventh hole.
Next best Vince Aitken with 31 points. Tuesday's play again today with ball toss at 9am for partners. Come and enjoy a social day in sport. Both competitions are open to any golfer looking for a mid-week game with full details available from the Forbes Golf Club Pro Shop on 6851 1554.

FORBES WOMEN’S BOWLING CLUB
After having a month off for the holiday season we hope all had a great rest and ready to play bowls again. Anne Walker will be keen for those who will play pennants to start practising as we will only have the one team of number 2 grade to play this year.
The morning tea hostesses are Mary Everson and Pam Stevens and social selectors are Noela Girot and Jill Taylor to be in the Club by 8.15 am. Colleen Liebich was the birthday girl this week and had a surprise visit from her daughter Robyn from Bungendore to help celebrate with the family Social bowls will be played again tomorrow Just ring in between 8.30am and 9.00am and you will be in a game. Looking forward to seeing you all on the green.

We are opposite the netball courts on Bedgerebong Road Tuesday and Saturday from 8.30am. We are a great, friendly group of likeminded folk who love to get out into the fresh air, and have some gentle exercise, Croquet is very easy to learn and we have all the equipment to get you started.
