Pump up your tyres and dust off your seats, as Cycling Australia will be a hosting a number of free Aboriginal Bicycle Safety Programs across the region over the next two weeks.

Using Cycling Australia's successful Let's Ride program, these three-hour sessions are designed to give participants a fun, interactive learning experience that teaches them to ride safely by developing their bike riding skills, knowledge and confidence.
These free programs will be instructed by Damien and Jenny Enderby, from the Let's Ride Newcastle Delivery Centre, and is targeted at Indigenous children aged five to 12 years old.
Both Damien and Jenny have had extensive experience with bicycle education and were involved with the delivery of the program last year in other remote areas of NSW.
This year's Aboriginal Bicycle Safety Program will be held at 10 different locations across the Western Region, including Parkes, Peak hill, Condobolin, Lake Cargelligo and Forbes.
The Forbes program will be held at Forbes Netball Courts, Apex Park, Tuesday 24 January, 10am - 1pm.
"During the three hour sessions, children will learn to recognise the importance of visibility while riding, where safe places to ride are and progressively develop and reinforce skills used in cycling,” Parkes, Forbes and Lachlan Shire Councils' Road Safety and Injury Prevention Officer, Logan Dolbel said.
"Additionally, kids will learn to recognise and follow road signs and road rules, correctly fit and wear a helmet, and be introduced to basic bike maintenance in keeping a bike road worthy," Mr Dolbel said.
Children are encouraged to bring along their own bikes, as a bike mechanic will be present at each venue to service the bikes, looking at common issues such as brakes, tyres, handle bar grips and pedals. A fleet of bikes will also be available if required.
Each child will receive a free Indigenous designed helmet that will be distributed to the participants at the venue.
Please remember to wear appropriate cycling attire, enclosed shoes and sunscreen. No need to register, just turn up on the day with your bike to participate.
