Played at South Circle Oval, Curtale blasted eight fours and four sixes in Cowra’s successful pursuit of victory, having earlier bowled Forbes out for 133.
Forbes elected to bat first and opener Jarrod Nicholson took an aggressive approach scoring a quick 36 before being caught out.
Forbes looked good at first drinks, scoring steadily to be 2-60. They were three for 82 in the 23rd over.
Unfortunately from there, a mixture of tight bowling and some poor running between the wickets allowed Cowra to pick up five wickets, ending with Forbes 6-103.
Off-spinners Josh Carmody (4-47) and Curtale (2-3) cleaned up the middle and lower order, restricting Forbes to 133.
Forbes’ Corey McDean (30), Jason Hoswell (13) and Gus Coles (18 n/o) were the other batsmen to score double figures.
Bowlers Jarrod Nicholson and Abel Bernardi – with catches by Damian Kennedy and Gus Coles - had Cowra at 3 for 75.
The claimed the wicket of the dangerous Tim Berry for 2, but were unable to contain Curtale and Cowra sealed the six-wicket victory in the 23rd over.
This Saturday will see the Super 8s tournament at the Botanical Gardens. Registration closes Friday morning. Forms at the Advocate and Post Office Hotel.
